            In reference with the survey conducted last August on your Filipiniana librarian and collection, Baguio-Benguet Librarians Association, Inc as the implementer of the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Library And Information Services project on Capability and Training for Librarians and Information Professionals will be offering a seminar-workshop on October 22-24 AM, 2012.

            The topic is Technological Training for the Enhancement of the Filipiniana Library and specifically aims to:
1)      Introduce to the librarian Desktop Publishing and Photoshop,
2)      Develop in the librarians the skill of technological marketing, and
3)      Enable librarians to market Filipiniana materials.

The seminar-workshop is free inclusive of registration and lodging. Thus to accommodate librarians in Luzon area only one (1) librarian per institution is encouraged. K-12 decoded: designing Information Literacy Program for the K-12 Curriculum

Greetings!
 
 As the school continues to adapt to another challenge geared towards academic excellence, which is the implementation of the new K-12 curriculum, the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School – Learning Resource Center (DLSZ-LRC) believes that libraries and librarians play a vital role in the promotion, execution and eventually, the success of this framework.
 
The DLSZ-LRC believes that alongside the innovation, recentness and up-to-datedness of facilities and equipment of the center, improvement of the professional competencies of each librarian and library
personnel should also come at hand.
 
The DLSZ-LRC would like to invite you to a half-day seminar entitled: “K-12 decoded: designing Information Literacy Program for the K-12 curriculum” on November 13, 2012, 8:00am – 12:00
noon at St. Mutien Audio Visual Room.
 
The seminar aims to: 
 
1. To understand the implication of the K-12 curriculum in school libraries;
2. To empower school librarians in facing the challenges of the K-12 curriculum; and 
3. To design new and innovative library programs that will adapt to the K-12 learning environment
 
For this seminar, our guest speaker is Ms Zarah Gagatiga who is an esteemed school librarian with significant experience in handling Information Literacy Programs, a known blogger, literacy advocate, and a published writer.
 
Seminar fee isP500, inclusive of seminar kit, certificate, and meals (snack and lunch). Participants are limited to 50 only, so it’s a first-come, first-served basis.

PLAI-NCR Conference on "The Future of Library Technical Services" on October 16-17, 2012

The Philippine Librarians’ Association, Inc.-National Capital Region (PLAI-NCR) Librarian’s Council invites you to a 2-day Conference on 16-17 October 2012 to be held at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Sta. Cruz, Manila. The theme of the Conference is “The Future of Library Technical Services” and it has the following objectives: 
1. Discuss the current landscape and the changes taking place in library, technical services re-defined, and the innovative ways for libraries to transform in the global information environment. 
2. Provide a venue to reflect on the traditional interpretations and new understandings of library technical services and how doing selection and acquisitions, cataloging, indexing and abstracting are being transformed in the new information world. 
3. Identify the competency gaps and requirements for present and future librarians and information professionals to enable them to respond to the vast changes in library technical services.

We have invited Speakers and Resource persons who are known experts and authorities in Library technical services to cover various topics. 

The fee for this Conference is PHP 3,000.00 and this shall cover the registration, conference kits, lunches and snacks.

PLAI-CeLRLC Forum on RDA on Oct. 25, 2012

Dear Colleague:

The PLAI-Central Luzon Region Librarians Council in cooperation with Angeles University Foundation is scheduled to conduct a forum entitled "RDA: Issues and Concerns" on October 25, 2012 at Room PS-308, Professional Schools Building, Angeles University Foundation, Angeles City. This activity aims to discuss an overview and present various issues and concerns pertinent to Resource Description and Access (RDA).

In this regard, we would like to invite you to attend the Forum which will coincide with the Election of 2013-2014 Council Officers. Our resource speaker is Dr. SoniaM. Gementiza, Director of Library, De La Salle University, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. to be followed by the forum proper and election of officers respectively.

Registration fee is free to all 2012 paid members of the PLAI-CeLRLC while a minimal fee of Php 100.00 will be charge to non-members and students of Library & Information Science to cover the cost of snacks, certificates, etc.
