In reference with the survey conducted last August on your Filipiniana
librarian and collection, Baguio-Benguet Librarians Association, Inc as the
implementer of the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts-National
Committee on Library And Information Services project on Capability and
Training for Librarians and Information Professionals will be offering
a seminar-workshop on October 22-24 AM, 2012.
The topic is Technological Training for the Enhancement of the Filipiniana
Library and specifically aims to:
1) Introduce
to the librarian Desktop Publishing and Photoshop,
2) Develop
in the librarians the skill of technological marketing, and
3) Enable
librarians to market Filipiniana materials.
The
seminar-workshop is free inclusive
of registration and lodging. Thus to accommodate librarians in Luzon area only

As the school continues to adapt to another challenge geared towards academic excellence, which is the implementation of the new K-12 curriculum, the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School – Learning Resource Center (DLSZ-LRC) believes that libraries and librarians play a vital role in the promotion, execution and eventually, the success of this framework.
The DLSZ-LRC believes that alongside the innovation, recentness and up-to-datedness of facilities and equipment of the center, improvement of the professional competencies of each librarian and library
personnel should also come at hand.
The DLSZ-LRC would like to invite you to a half-day seminar entitled: “K-12 decoded: designing Information Literacy Program for the K-12 curriculum” on November 13, 2012, 8:00am – 12:00

Re: COUNCIL ELECTION RULES
2012 is the election year for PLAI. In
this regard, please be guided by the following:
1.
As a general
rule, there shall be an election for all regional councils which shall be
scheduled on or before the end of October. The names of elected officers shall
be submitted to the chairman of the HOD on or before October 31 in preparation
for the national election in November.
2.
The NOMELEC shall
serve as the Board of Canvasser during the election. It shall be responsible in
preparing ballots, ballot boxes, and tallying the number of votes of every
nominee.
3.
Each council
shall have seven (7) officers namely: President, Vice-President Secretary,
Treasurer, Auditor and two (2) Board Members to serve as NOMELEC.
4.
The council
Presidents and Vice-Presidents shall automatically become part of the HOD. The
third member to the HOD shall be decided/appointed by the CBOT present.
5.
All nominees must
be physically present during the election for them to be voted upon. The use of
a proxy shall not be allowed.
6.
The term of
office of all officers, national and Regional shall be two (2) years. In no way
shall any officer be elected to the same position for two (2) consecutive
terms.

RULES OF THE POSTER MAKING AND ESSAY
WRITING CONTESTS
*GENERAL RULE: Regional Councils indicate
where and how the entries for the contests are to be sent
A. POSTER-MAKING CONTEST
1. The contest is open to
all high school students of public and private schools nationwide.
2. The poster should be a visualization of
the 2012 National Library And Information Services Month Theme: “ LIBRARIES: EFFECTS ON SOCIETY”
3. Use white illustration board (15” x 20”) in size.
4. Use any medium (craypas,
water color, crayon, pentel, pen, etc.)
5. The entry should be an original work
and a certification to this effect from the principal must be submitted
together with the contestant’s name.
6. The contestant’s name and school must
be written on a separate sheet of paper
and stapled or attached at the back of the entry.
7. All entries will become the property of
PLAI.
8. Deadline
for submission of entries is on October 15, 2012
9. The criteria for judging will be as
follows:
Poster Making Contest
a. Originality - 35%
b. Pictorial design and composition - 15%
c. Technique - 15%
d. Relevance to the theme - 35%

How to get to Boracay:
1. Take a boat or plane to Caticlan then take a tricycle (about 5 mins. ride; costs 12 pesos) to the jetty port.
2. Take an outrigger boat or “banca” from Caticlan’s jetty port to Cagban (costs 20 pesos plus terminal (100 pesos) and environmental fee (75 pesos)).
3. Take a tricycle (100 pesos, max of 4 persons) or Multi-cab (250 pesos, max of 8 persons) from Cagban to the hotel.
